Don't know if there are any Quad Cities folks here. We had a walk through by our local CBS station on Wednesday for where they are setting up their camera and lights. Guess we're moving our showroom around to better accommodate the CBS crew. Here's the local commercial that's been running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvvDIOyoS-E

Ok, so I went to the casting call in Atlanta yesterday. I didn't get a callback yet (it's Sunday night) so I am assuming that I didn't get picked for another round. Hopefully, I am wrong though...but I'm pretty realistic. I would expect that the people they liked would get a call last night, then asked to come back somewhere in Atlanta the Sunday.

Anywho, I really enjoyed the casting call. It was a fun activity for a Saturday. I was a bit surprised at how desperate some people seemed. People were already making "alliances" while waiting (seriously? you aren't on the show yet!). Other people had professional headshots, etc. and seemed to have very unrealistic expectations.

    So, this is my experience:

I show up around 4:00 at Rock Bottom Restaurant. I got a number and waited on the deck with the other wannabes. I was kind of nervous, so I glabbed a glass of wine. Most of the other people were eating/drinking so I didn't feel weird. I drank 2 glasses of wine but enjoyed talking to a few of the people there. I had my picture taken kind of similar to a mug shot before I got a number.

This one girl (well kind of) was quite a character. No one was sitting with her so I said 'hi' and struck up a conversation. Turns out that she is a tranvestite. She didn't have the surgery yet, so she said she has to tuck it in and can't wear panties (TMI). I am pretty accepting of just about everything, but this was a bit strange. She was wearing a light jacket, without anything under it. She had huge boobs and they were hanging out and instead of a bra she had a string under them to keep them up. Wow. I asked her if she had ever auditioned before, she said once for the real world and that she had been on JERRY SPRINGER twice. What the hell! She also mentioned that she has been in (her words) some "naughty films."

So I chatted with some other people. Some seemed to be HUGE big brother fans, which was kind of pathetic, or just randoms who decided to try out on a whim. I waited around for probably 45 minutes out so, which was fine as a sipped my pinot. It was actually cool see how the process works.

Then, I finally had my number called for my interview. I interviewed with 2 other people and it lasted probably 5 minutes. That was a really strange experience. For one, the other girl was a little person (a dwarf I guess). She was missing at first and the interviewer was asking if maybe she was on drugs. Haha. I wouldn't be shocked.

Let me describe this lady for you. She was at most about 3 feet tall. She wore hoochie jeans and a top that BARELY covered her nipples. Her boobs were rather enormous. She had a GIANT afro and huge heels. She basically looked like a midget hooker. I would love to watch her on tv. Anywho, she informed us that she used to be a stripper but now does celebrity impersonations. She, of course, let us know how confident she is and how she doesn't care that people judge her for being little or black.

I asked her if maybe it wasn't that she was black or a little person...maybe people judged her for being dressed like a hoochie and wearing giant drag queen-esque fake hair. She didn't seem to like that and told me that I am just insecure with myself and feel like putting others down. Not the case...but this is a reality show audition so I guess it is a good thing that i got into it with a lady?

Clearly, we didn't get along and that was obvious to the interviewer. The other lady didn't seem to like me either, but whatever. I guess I am not the nicest person in the world. She worked in finance and was really pretty/normal seeming. She just seemed to be a fan of the show and wanted to try out (like me). The interviewer asked random questions that you would expect, but he asked us who we would vote out. Of course, I was the one everyone wanted off! Not shocking...but one lady said I am boring. Well, no, I am not a circus freak, but I am interesting and highly educated person. I call it like a I see it. I told both of the girls to go fuck themselves after the interview in front of the interviewer! He probably thinks I am nuts, but honestly I kind of am.

I am disappointed that I didn't recieve a call yet (if ever), but am happy that I tried out. With such a large crowd trying out, I am happy that I got a small interview with a casting person. They have to cut out most people, and clearly I am not what they are looking for. As long as you don't go in expecting things, you have very little to lose.

One thing I regret is that I had two glasses of wine and might have come off as tipsy (because I was). I don't drink that often but was nervous and was a bar...so go figure.

Overall, it was a fun experience. I would love to be on the show, but am happy with my life as it is. Maybe I would have a better shot at Jerry Springer...just kidding.

Cheers and good luck to everyone!
